The problem
Going out with a baby or toddler means knowing things no review site tells you: is there a high chair, room for the pram, somewhere to change a nappy? Parents find out at the door, or ring ahead and hope.
Who it’s for
Parents and carers of babies, toddlers and young children, planning a coffee, a class or a day out.
What we had to respect
- Facility details are only useful if they are true, so nothing can be marked verified on one person's word.
- Search near you without storing anyone's exact location.
- Pre-launch: every sample venue and event must be clearly labelled as invented.
The decisions that shaped it
The experience
Find places near you by what you need and your child's age, venue pages with what they offer and opening hours, events on this week, days out, an ambassador programme, and free listings that venues can claim.
What we learned
“A directory is only as good as its least reliable listing. Designing the checking was the product.”
Deep dive
Verification with two parents
Ambassadors use a ten-minute checklist at places they already visit. Nothing is marked verified until a second parent confirms it, and unconfirmed details say so.
Search that respects privacy
Search by town, postcode or your location, filtered by distance, what you need and your child's age. Location is rounded to about one kilometre and never stored.
Honest about being early
Every listing and event on the site is an invented sample, labelled on each page, until real listings launch.
A character system
A cast of hand-drawn characters gives each section its own colour and personality, from places and events to the ambassador programme.
